The successful release of the inaugural issue of the International Journal of Geriatric Orthopedics (IJGO) marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the Geriatric Orthopedic Society of India. As we present the second issue, it is deeply gratifying to witness the encouraging response from clinicians, researchers, and academicians committed to advancing musculoskeletal care for the elderly.
The demographic transition toward an ageing global population continues to redefine healthcare priorities. Geriatric orthopedics has emerged as a vital pillar of contemporary orthopedic practice. The management of fragility fractures, osteoporosis, degenerative joint diseases, spinal disorders, sarcopenia, and fall-related injuries demands evidence-based, multidisciplinary, and patient-centered approaches tailored specifically to older adults.
This issue reflects strengthening academic engagement within this evolving specialty. The contributions published herein demonstrate scientific rigor, clinical relevance, and a nuanced understanding of the biological and functional complexities unique to geriatric patients. We are particularly encouraged by increasing interdisciplinary collaboration involving orthopedic surgeons, geriatricians, physiatrists, rehabilitation specialists, and allied health professionals.
Our mission remains steadfast:
In parallel with strengthening scientific content, IJGO is committed to achieving wider academic visibility and global accessibility. The journal is actively working toward indexing in recognized national and international databases including DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), Index Copernicus, Scopus, and PubMed Central. These milestones are essential not merely for academic recognition, but for ensuring that research published in IJGO reaches clinicians, researchers, and policymakers worldwide.
We are systematically aligning our editorial processes, peer-review standards, publication ethics, and digital archiving practices with the criteria required by major indexing agencies. Establishing a strong citation record, maintaining publication regularity, and enhancing international authorship remain strategic priorities in this journey.
The Editorial Board continues to uphold rigorous peer-review standards, transparency, and ethical publication practices. With increasing national and international submissions, IJGO is steadily evolving into a credible platform for scholarly exchange in geriatric orthopedics.
On behalf of the Editorial Board, I extend sincere appreciation to our authors, reviewers, and the leadership of the Geriatric Orthopedic Society of India for their continued trust and support. Their collective dedication strengthens the foundation upon which IJGO will continue to grow.
We remain committed to building IJGO not merely as a journal, but as a dynamic academic forum that integrates scientific inquiry with compassionate and comprehensive geriatric musculoskeletal care.
With renewed enthusiasm and a clear strategic vision, we present this second issue and look forward to sustained scholarly engagement from the global medical community.
