Welcome to International Journal of Geriatric Orthopedics (IJGO)
Peer review is the cornerstone of academic excellence at the International Journal of Geriatric Orthopedics (IJGO). We rely on the clinical insight, methodological rigor, and professional integrity of expert reviewers to safeguard scientific quality and advance evidence-based orthogeriatric medicine.
IJGO operates a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review process in which both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous throughout evaluation. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, balanced, and constructive assessments within 14 to 21 days of accepting a review invitation.
Does the study address a critical gap in geriatric orthopaedic care, fragility fracture management, or mobility rehabilitation? Is the research question original and clinically meaningful?
Are the study methodology, sample size calculations, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and control groups methodologically sound and clearly reproducible?
Was Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC/IRB) approval obtained? Were informed consent procedures appropriately adapted for cognitively impaired or frail elderly patients?
Are statistical tests appropriate for the study type? Are confidence intervals, p-values, Kaplan-Meier curves, or multivariable adjustments accurately interpreted?
Does the discussion place findings in context with published global and Indian literature? Are study limitations honestly discussed without overgeneralizing conclusions?
Is the manuscript clearly written, well-organized, and compliant with reporting guidelines? Are illustrations, clinical photographs, and tables informative and necessary?
Reviewers submit their evaluations with one of the following recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief:
Manuscript is ready for publication with no revisions required.
Requires textual clarifications, reference updates, or minor data reformatting.
Requires additional data, re-analysis, extensive rewriting, or re-review.
Methodologically flawed, out of journal scope, or lacks sufficient originality.
In strict adherence to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) recommendations, reviewers are bound by mandatory ethical principles:
Manuscripts received for review are privileged, confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, discuss, copy, or distribute any part of an unpublished submission with colleagues, students, or external parties. Reviewers are strictly prohibited from uploading manuscripts into generative AI systems or third-party cloud tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, large language models), as doing so violates author copyright, data security, and peer-review confidentiality.
IJGO invites active clinical researchers, academic orthopaedic surgeons, geriatricians, physiatrists, and allied musculoskeletal health professionals to join our peer review pool. Serving as a reviewer offers early insight into emerging research, hones critical evaluation skills, and contributes directly to the advancement of geriatric medicine.
Interested specialists should submit their brief curriculum vitae, institutional affiliation, ORCID iD, and 3 to 5 subspecialty keywords (e.g., hip fracture registries, bone health, sarcopenia, perioperative co-management).
Reviewer Recognition & Credits: IJGO deeply values our reviewers’ service. Reviewers receive formal Certificates of Peer Review Service, annual recognition in the final issue of each volume, and verifiable credit on academic review platforms.
To maintain standard reporting rigor, reviewers are encouraged to benchmark submissions against recognized international guidelines from the EQUATOR Network:
Comprehensive guidance on peer-review ethics, handling suspect data, conflict management, and editorial communication.
Checklists for diverse study designs: CONSORT (clinical trials), STROBE (observational studies), and PRISMA (systematic reviews).
International standards on authorship, scientific conduct, peer review confidentiality, and medical publishing ethics.
